CSSI renews its Dedication to Florida’s Alzheimer’s Disease Initiative with Redesign of Pro Bono Software System

Coconut Creek, Florida, 6/15/2010 – Computer Solutions and Software International, Inc. (CSSI) today announced that they are developing a new Alzheimer’s Disease Initiative (ADI) Manager system, which will be implemented at Broward Health’s Memory Disorder Center. The new system will help Broward Health to plan and manage appointments, as well as track patients’ health information which will be crucial to the state’s investigation into Alzheimer’s Disease.

Stephen Bruno, President and CEO of CSSI, was at the forefront of the original software development efforts, and today his daughter Stephanie Bruno Castro is leading the project. This project has a special place in both their hearts because Mr. Bruno’s father Mario Bruno was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and the ADI Manager system is dedicated to his memory.

CSSI developed the original ADI Manager pro bono to serve as Florida’s first state-wide database for Alzheimer’s disease in 1991. When it was first designed, the ADI Manager solution linked Florida’s hospital-based Memory Disorder Clinics for Alzheimer patients to the state’s academic medical institutions conducting clinical research into the causes of Alzheimer’s disease, including the Brain Bank, which dissected brains of deceased AD patients. For his contributions, Mr. Stephen Bruno was honored with the Florida’s Finest Humanitarian Award by former Governor of the State of Florida, Lawton Chiles.

Since ADI Manager’s launch, Broward Health’s Memory Center has continued using the system as a valuable tool to run its Memory Disorder Center. Now, Broward Health plans to add other capabilities that will help streamline appointments and communications into the system along with upgrading the technology platform to the latest .Net technologies. The majority of the redesign is being provided pro bono, with CSSI investing over $125,000 into development, implementation and training.

“I am proud to continue my father’s legacy of contributing to Alzheimer’s Disease care and research,” said Stephanie Bruno Castro, Marketing Specialist for CSSI and Project Manager for the ADI Manager re-write project. “This project is an excellent example of the power of technology to make an impact on peoples’ lives. This new system will help the staff of Broward Health’s Memory Center to work quickly and be confident in the strength of their information as they provide care to Alzheimer’s patients and their families.”

With this new system in place, Broward Health will have the ability to plan, schedule and manage appointments. Communications with patients will be made easier through pre-populated forms and templates and keeping track of patient’s medical release forms will be easier with automatic reminders. Patients’ assessments, medical history and appointment history can be captured and maintained in a central database for easier creation of monthly reporting to the state.
